I am still new to the craft blogging world but have been watching Kristina Werner's card making videos over at twopeasinabucket.com for over a year now and have just recently found her blog. Not long ago she re-started her color inspiration challenges where you have to make a card or a scrapbook page with the assigned colours and then she picks her Top Ten.
These are the colours for this week and I decided to have a go. I don't own any Stampin' Up inks but thought "what the heck, I'm sure I can find similar colours".
I got to use my new Hero Arts Silhoutte stamp that came today and had fun playing around with the different colours. I hope you like my card:
Thanks for looking.
Hugs,
Becca

ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Someone receiving this card would seriously frame it. Cool!
ReplyDeleteI love it. How did you get the flowers to be in white? Barb
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comments.
ReplyDeleteBarb, I clear embossed onto a white card and used distress inks to colour in the card.

Oh my goodness, this is GORGEOUS! The prettiest card I've seen in a long time, and that's saying alot.
ReplyDeleteYou are an extremely talented artist.
Btw, I'm new to distress inks. I've played around a bit but I've never gotten my colors to meld so well together. Would you mind sharing your technique? I just love this!
ReplyDeleteToo gorgeous for words!
ReplyDeleteChristiana, after I'd clear embossed the stamp I layered four colours onto my craft sheet - peeled paint, shabby shutters, dusty concord and milled lavender and I then spritzed them with water letting the water pool. I dabbed my card in the coloured water and then dried with my heat gun, then I did and second and third layer the same way. For the final touch, I then applied the inks with an applicator to the sides, blending it all together. I hope this helps:)
ReplyDeleteThis card looks awesome! I love the distress inks you used on it!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! Congrats on Kristina's Top 10!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! and Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks, that does help! Did you put the colors in individual "piles" on your craft sheet, or all on top of each other?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... thanks for sharing how you created it too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Becca, no wonder this one caught kristina's eye it's stunning! Jo x

ReplyDeleteOh my you sure did a lovely job with those colors...don't look like you are new to the craft to me as that card is simply stunning!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to stamping, so can you plse tell me what the Hero Art Silhouette Stamp is, and where to get it? Also, thanks for the recap on how you worked with your distress inks. I've been meaning to have a go with mine but have been somewhat intimidated. :) Guess I have to just jump in!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie, the Hero Art Silhouette stamp is a large wood block rubber stamp with a pretty meadow floral image. I bought mine from Simon Says Stamp and the number is s5033. If you follow this link it'll take you directly to it: http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-10116/Hero-Arts-Block-Rubber/Detail
ReplyDeleteI watched a few tutorials about distress inks before I "jumped in". Watch Tim Holtz or Jennifer McGuire on their blogs or on YouTube - they are the pro's if you ask me :) Hope this helped.
